The Gemology Subgroup works with the science dealing with natural and artificial gemstone materials. It is considered a geoscience and a branch of mineralogy. Some jewelers (and many non jewelers) are academically trained gemologists and are qualified to identify and evaluate gems.*
The Gemology Subgroup is up and running. If you didn't get signed up, please contact Richard Armstrong. Also please let Richard know of any specific issues, topics, or questions you would like to address. Please feel free to bring any gem for "show and tell" or for identification at the group meeting. Interested in Gem Identification? Contact Richard to find out when's the next Gem Identification Class.
The Gemology Group usually meets the 3rd Thursday of each month , 6:30 PM at the clubhouse. Bring any of your favorite specimens for discussion, to show or to identify.
